Étymologie
De l’ancien français buer, du vieux-francique *bûkôn (« tremper dans la lessive »), la lessive se faisait avec de la cendre de hêtre et le mot est apparenté à Buche en allemand, buk en tchèque. À comparer avec le wallon contemporain bouwer (même sens).
